Quarto, Valenzani

La Circoscrizione di Quarto,Valenzani si estende nella zona est del terriotorio frazionale di Asti per circa 18 chilometri quadrati e si divide in Quarto supe-riore e Quarto inferiore.
Come altre frazioni della città fu comune autonomo fino al 1929, quando fu annesso al Comune di Asti per poter ingrandire e dare maggiore importanza al capoluogo, al fine di permettere la successiva formazione della provincia di Asti nel 1935.
Questa popolosa frazione, un tempo dedita all’agricoltura, negli ultimi anni ha subito l’abbandono delle aziende agricole ed i pochi produttori rimasti sono ormai anziani.
Sono ancora presenti alcuni artigiani che lavorano con passione:una rinomata falegnameria, una gastronomia, un panificio ed una vera e propria fattoria che alleva vitelli.
Le scosse sismiche del 2000 hanno reso inagibile la bella chiesa del Bricco,che domina la vallata.L’edificio è in fase di restauro e sarà entro breve,riaperto al culto.Nella Piana poi,sorge all’ombra di alberi e vigne,una bella chiesetta dedicata a San Rocco.
La pro loco del luogo,di recente rinnovamento,è molto attiva e piena di entusiasmo,desiderosa di infondere nei più giovani l’amore per le tradizioni e lo spirito di collaborazione per contiunuare a far vivere questa bella frazione.
Qui si corre il curioso Palio degli Asini,sorto in spregio a quello nobile ed equino di Asti.I borghigiani assicura-no di averne notizia certa almeno dal ‘700.
Giorno per la tradizionale corsa è quello di Pentecoste :in questa occasione la gente dei rioni si anima ed esul-ta quando il proprio asinello giunge a tagliare il traguardo.
Proprio in onore di questo quadrupede la pro loco di Quarto partecipa alla sfilata del Carnevale astigiano con un simpatico carro raffigurante l’asinello.
Il nuovo presidente e l’attivissima segretaria della pro loco, insieme a tutte le cuoche collaborano in molte occasioni con le iniziative organizzate dal Comune di Asti,desiderosi di farsi conoscere ed apprezzare.

The district of Quarto/Valenzani extends in the east of the Asti territory for roughly 18 square kilometres and is divided into the Upper Quarto (Superiore) and Lower Quarto (Inferiore).
Just like other districts of the city, it was an autonomous municipality until 1929, when it was annexed to the Municipality of Asti to expand and give more importance to the major town in the area,in order to allow the subsequent formation of the Province of Asti (1935).
This well populated district, once given over to agriculture, has in recent years seen farming largely abandoned and the few farmers left are by now elderly.There are still some craftsmen who work enthusiastically: there is a well known joi-nery,a maker of gastronomic delicacies,a bakery and a working farm that breeds calves.
The earth tremors of 2000 have made the charming church of the Bricco which dominates the valley unfit for use,and it is now being restored.There is another small church on the Plain,in the shade of vines and trees,dedicated to San Rocco. The recently renewed local tourist board for the locality is very active and full of enthusiasm, keen to instil into the younger generation a love for the traditions and the spirit of collaboration to continue to live in this pleasant district. Here an unusual ‘Palio degli Asini’(Mule race) is run,in contempt of the noble one run with horses in Asti.
The villagers claim to be able to trace its origins at least as far back as the 1700s.
The traditional day of the race is that of Pentecost: on this day the inhabitants of the different quarters of the village cheer enthusiastically and shout loudly when their mule reaches the finishing line.
In honour of this four-legged beast the local tourist board of Quarto takes part in the Asti Carnival procession with an amusing float depicting the mule.
The new president and very active secretary of the local tourist board,together with all the chefs,collaborate very often with the events organised by the Municipality of Asti,deter-mined to make themselves known and appreciated.

Der Bezirk von Quarto/Valenzani liegt im Östteil der Ungebung von Asti und hat ungefähr 18 ha Umfassung.
Dieser starkbevölkert Ortschaft wurde von viele Bauern bewohnt. Heute leben noch einige Handwerkern dort, die sehr gut arbeiten: es gibt eine Tischlerei, ein Lebensmittelgeschäft, eine Beckerei und eine echte Farm, die Rinder zuchtet. Das Erdbeben im 2000 hat die alte Kirche ”der Bricco” beschädigt, die jetzt restauriert wird. In der Ebene liegt die schöne Kirche San Rocco zwischen den Weinbergen und Bäumen.
Hier gibt es eine sehr aktive Pro-loco, die viele Veranstaltungen organisiert, um an die Jungen die Traditionen über zu tragen.
Hier findet der komische Palio der Eseln statt, der 1700 gegründet werden sollte. Dieser Palio das Pfingsfest veranstaltet wird. Das ganze Dorf nimmt an die Feier mit Begeisterung teil. Die Pro-loco nimmt oft an die Veranstaltungen der Gemeinde von Asti teil, und findet an dem Karneval von Asti mit einem Feierwagen mit Eselsform statt.
Die typische Speise, die die Pro-loco an dem “Festival delle Sagre” serviert, ist “Tagliatelle fresche al sugo di cinghiale”: die Tgliatelle sind Eiernudeln mit Soße mit Waldschweinsfleisch für einige Tage im Wein gelassen und dann auf kleinem Feuer gekocht. Dazu muss man den Barbera d’Asti oder del Monferrato trinken. Die typische Süßspeise sind die “Caritin”, die mit-telalterlische Kekse mit einer Rundformen mit einem Kreuz drin sind.

La Circonscription de Quarto/Valenzani s’étend dans la zone est du territoire fractionnel d’Asti sur 18 kilomètres carrés et se divise en deux:“Quarto superiore”et “Quarto inferiore”.
Comme toutes les autres circonscriptions de la ville, elle fut une commune autonome jusqu’en 1929, lorsqu’elle fut annexée à la Commune d’Asti pour l’agrandir et lui donner plus d’importance dans le but de permettre la formation successive de la Province d’ Asti (1935). Ce hameau peuplé,autrefois dédié à l’agriculture,a subi dans les dernières années un abandon des entreprises agricoles. Les derniers producteurs en ces lieux sont désormais agés.Mais il y a encore quelques artisans tra-vaillant avec passion: une menuiserie renommée, un commerce gastronomique, un boulanger et une ferme d’élevage de veaux .
Les secousses sismiques de 2000 ont rendu inutilisable la belle église de Bricco qui domine la vallée. Elle est actuelle-ment en restauration. A Piana se dresse une belle église dédiée à San Rocco,à l’ombre des arbres et des vignes . Le syndicat est très actif et plein d’enthousiasme, dési-reux de transmettre aux plus jeunes l’amour pour les traditions et l’esprit de collaboration afin de pérénniser ce beau hameau.
Ici se déroule le curieux “Palio degli Asini” (course des ânes), par mépris pour le noble et chevalin Palio d’Asti. Les villageois confirment avoir des informations certaines à propos de ce Palio depuis le XVIII.
La Pentecôte est le jour de la traditionnelle course: à cette occasion les habitants des quartiers s’animent et exultent lorsque leur propre âne franchit la ligne d’arrivée.
En l’honneur de ces quadrupèdes, le syndicat de Quarto défile lors du Carvanal d’Asti sur un sympathique char réprésentant un âne.
Le nouveau président et l’active secrétaire du syndicat assistés de toutes les cuisinières collaborent aux initiatives de la Commune d’Asti, dans le but de se faire con-naitre et apprécier.
